Mother's Day

So, on Mother's Day we decided it would be the perfect time to tell our families the little secret we had been keeping.  I had it all planned out in my head where we would be and how we would tell them.  Well, nothing ever goes as planned so we improvised.

First it was church with my parents and then off to grab a bite to eat and then to see The Avengers (we always take my mom to a movie on Mother's Day).  We were supposed to have a sit down lunch after the movie but we decided it would be too late, so we stopped at Schlotzsky's.  We had put a picture of the ultrasound in a Mother's Day card that actually had Grandma on the front.  Our dogs know them by Grandma and Grandpa.  Anyway, we gave her the card and at first she didn't see the picture, then my dad noticed it and pulled it out.  Their reactions were priceless!  I wish I had it on camera.  They were in shock for a little bit.  Oh it was a great moment!  We talked about everything all the way to the theater and before the movie started.  My sister and her beau were running a little late so we would have to wait until after the movie to tell her.  My mom handed the card to her and said "look at the card Jen and Justin gave me."  She couldn't figure out why it said Grandma either until she opened it.  She started crying when she saw the picture and said, "is that you?!"  Needless to say the reactions we had from the family were great and I will always remember those moments.

Next, we were going to be having dinner with Justin's family so we could tell them the good news.  Well, we found out that one of his sister's wasn't going to be joining us and then we got a message from his other sister that said they wouldn't make it either.  We were bummed, but understood.  So we sent a message to his parents to see if they still wanted to have dinner, but they weren't going to make it either.  So we decided to tell them when we went out there later in the week.  Justin decided he was going to go out to their house the Monday after Mother's Day to pick up the trailer for our trip the next weekend.  He took the photo and gave it to his mom.  He said she didn't say anything for about 5 minutes!  I didn't get to go with him, so I am not sure of all the details, but I think we did a good job at shocking everyone in the family!  He sent the picture to his 2 sisters as well.  They were both excited for us but couldn't believe we waited so long to tell anyone (11 weeks)!
